Learning Music Through Stories

Chess at Three exists because of our fun engaging stories that allow children to discover the magical world of chess on their own. A couple of years ago, we started developing a music curriculum that uses all the same elements that make Chess at Three great: fun stories, silly characters, and carefully crafted plots, all told by amazing storytellers. We’re thrilled to announce that we have 10 engaging stories that allow children to discover the magical world of music. We’re calling this new program Story Time Music. Here’s a short example of one of our new great stories: Anya the cat loves to play songs on her Ukelele for her flamingo friends every day. One day, a cheetah named Tempo came to the field to hear a song, but Tempo the cheetah could only stay for a couple of seconds and would always need to run off before Anya could finish her song. Anya the cat wants to play her song for Tempo the cheetah, but she can never finish in time. So, what is Anya solution? This is an important question we will ask our students. The answer is: Anya needs to play her song faster. This will enable Tempo the cheetah to hear the whole thing. From that day on, all the animals in Musiclandia called the speed of a song it’s “tempo.” Each week will have a fun, engaging, and memorable moment of discovery just like that. If you’re in the NYC area, we would love to get one of our amazing tutors in your school or home to teach our wonderful new music program: Story Time Music!
