Chess at Three is thrilled to announce our April Tutor of the month: Mateo Ervin

Chess at Three tutors are some of the most talented people in New York City and Mateo Ervin is a fantastic example of that! Mateo is a perennial favorite at Chess at Three events because of his amazing balloon animals, spirited stories, and his amazingly silly voices he uses to bring the Chess at Three characters to life.

Who is Mateo?

Mateo has a BA in Communications with an Emphasis in Theatre from Austin College.  Mateo is an improviser, actor, and professional birthday party clown in NYC with extensive comedy training from The Annoyance Theater. He has extensive experience tutoring children for entrance exams (Gifted & Talented, AABL, Hunter, WISC-IV, ELA/Math) as well as general tutoring, improv, and theater training.

Mateo in his own Words

What I love most about teaching Chess at 3: I love how universally accessible the curriculum is! No matter what kind of learner they are, every child can find a strong connection to the material through the stories. It is so wonderful to watch their eyes light up when they make a connection!
