WE TEACH

CHESS

Where stories come alive and chess becomes an adventure—watch your child grow smarter, braver, and more confident with every move!

In our fun and supportive environment, learning happens naturally as children connect, explore, and grow.

Our mission is to empower children with essential life skills—such as critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and self-confidence—through engaging, interactive storytelling. By using games like chess and imaginative role-playing, we create a fun and educational environment where kids can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Our Method
Did we mention it's award-winning?

Through imaginative storytelling, we meet each child where they are, helping them connect with chess in a way that makes sense to their unique learning style.
1
Meet King Chomper!
He loves food so much that his pockets are weighed down with snacks, so he can only move one slow step at a time.
2
With every story-inspired move, kids begin to understand how each piece plays a part on the board, unlocking that ‘ah-hah’ moment of discovery.

What parents are saying...

My daughter had no prior chess experience and immediately fell in love by going through Chess At Three's storytelling style of teaching at the trial class. Now the chess club becomes her favorite class after the school and she can't wait to play with the next character when it is introduced... Definitely highly recommend it!

My 5 year old has been hooked since meeting the Chess team during their soft opening... [The Staff] and tutors and all of the Chess at Three team have been incredibly welcoming, kind and patient with our budding chess player. Can't wait to keep up with the classes and see him develop his skills in the months to come.

Thanks for hosting a great week of summer camp. Coco seriously had the best time! She is obsessed with Birchguard Quest and I'd love for her to take one of your classes in the fall. I'd also be interested to send her back in August for another camp!

I didn’t know what to expect when I took my Son to Chess at 3. My wife and I don’t play chess, and our Son is only 3 and half. But guess what: our Son LOVES learning and playing chess now !!!!Miss Taylor makes it really fun for him. His class starts at 4:15, right after another one that ends at around 4:10. You would think Miss Taylor will be exhausted at 4:15, and maybe she is, but once the class starts she is full of energy, and she has the 3 & 1/2 years old’s - and all the students’ - attention during the entire session. She is really entertaining at story telling, thanks to her personality and her acting skills. And she doesn’t get frustrated, but has a lotta patience, when sometimes it takes the students a bit longer to understand how to move the pieces.

Trevor is excellent! He is able to connect with our two hyperactive boys and get them to focus, significantly expand their chess capabilities, and fully enjoy the experience. My boys love playing chess, and I can no longer beat them 😊

Pablo has been an amazing teacher to my two children! They love lessons with him. He is patient and knowledgable and very skilled at engaging them. He is also always prepared to "pivot" his lesson plan if what he'd had planned doesn't seem to be capturing their attention that day. I am constantly impressed by how well he knows how to connect and communicate with the kids. I would recommend him to anyone.

Elijah is a wonderful Chess teacher! With his acting background, he made the stories come alive and my son was thoroughly engaged during the lesson. My son had a basic understanding of the game but with Elijah, he learned many new Chess moves and strategies. Also, he is kind and did a good job redirecting my son when he wasn't focused. I highly recommend Elijah as a tutor!

My daughter had no prior chess experience and immediately fell in love by going through Chess At Three's storytelling style of teaching at the trial class. Now the chess club becomes her favorite class after the school and she can't wait to play with the next character when it is introduced. The club manager, Jen, is very warm, patient, and attentive to the kids. She also picks up the kids from the schools and the kids can have afternoon snacks before the class starts. The club, newly opened in Park Slope, is very clean and organized. There is a welcoming atmosphere whenever you walk in and kids love to stay there for its fun activities. Definitely highly recommend it!

We are amazed at how quickly our kindergartener became obsessed with chess thanks to attending Story Time Chess club. He played my brother-in-law who was impressed with the skill, confidence and knowledge of the game our kiddo had amassed after only a handful of classes.

I have an Autistic teenage son. I have tried many activities and programs to engage him and pull him away from his electronic devices. After many years and failed attempts, we finally were referred to Chess at Three. He now looks forward to his weekly chess lessons. His amazing and patient coach, Saki, keeps him interested during the entire session, which is no small feat. I am so grateful for the skill, professionalism, and understanding we have experienced at Chess at Three.

Absolutely fabulous place with excellent teachers. Chess is one of the few things proven to increase kid's IQ's, so don't hesitate! My kids are 3 and 4 and learning chess has improved their problem solving skills in all areas. Jenn especially is a wonderful person - so communicative, kind, and effective at what she does. We look forward to summer camp this year!!
